Teen Hospitalized with Dehydration after 4-day Xbox marathon

An Ohio woman has confiscated the Xbox of her 15-year-old son who was hospitalized for dehydration after spending at least four days in his bedroom playing the Modern Warfare 3 video game, WCMH TV reports.

Jesse Rawlins tells the NBC affilate in Columbus that her son, Tyler Rigsby, emerged from his bedroom Tuesday morning after a marathon round of game-playing, and collapsed three times.

She says he became very pale and his lips turned blue.

"I was very scared. I thought he was going to die," she tells WCMH. "He just fell over three times."

The TV station quotes an emergency physician at a children's hospital as saying dehydration can lead to decreased blood pressure and a lack of adequate oxygen to the brain.

Rawlins, who says Tyler had only left his bedroom to use the bathroom, pick up snacks and take a quick shower, adds that both have learned a lesson the hard way.

She says Tyler was shaken by the ordeal, and didn't complain about his punishment.

"The Xbox is gone," she says.

I honestly think that it's partly the mother's fault for not checking up on the kid. Bad parenting is bad.

Who in the hell is dumb enough not to know that you have to drink water in order to sustain life? And that the controller may be put down for ten seconds to go get water? Done that all summer and I didn't faint. Me and my cousin had no life during summer break, we played video games all summer none stop till 8am, we slept during day and woke up at nigt, took showers, ate sum, etc.. but didn't go out. It was the first time and last since I will be off to college pretty soon.
