When the Zetsu tells Obito that Madara is "taking a nap and it's their job to make Obito useful by the time he wakes up" is the reader supposed to translate that as he's already dead?

I'm guessing that they meant it in a literal sense, but could double as forshadowing. Obito still doesnt know how to execute Madara's plan (at least, as far as we know). So Madara would still need to tell him what to do.

No. The plan was for to Obito to eventually revive him years from this point. After he got all the tailed beasts. Obito can't rehab and be ready for when Madara wakes up if he's the one who's supposed be the one to wake him up in the first place. Madara hasn't even told Obito about the plans or trained him yet. He's just asleep. Old people do that a lot

Then the only explanation is that Obito is suppose to permanently awaken his MS I guess? I don't see any other way a kid is going to be useful to Madara unless you're talking over an enormous amount of time which would explain him being dead.
