Has Itachi ever battled to kill?(Not including clan massacre)

Itachi listened to the leaf village first and foremost. It is not in his right to tell what the hokage can or should do. Especially as young as he was.

None. We've never seen him go all-out thanks to him always being handicapped by one thing or another.

However, you could include the Nagato fight into this category, and he fared extremely well in that one.

We don't know his full capabilities, and the last time we saw him 100%, he pretty much owned Kurenai and Kakashi.

And even during that fight he wasn't going all out as he wasn't wanting to fight the people he sacrificed everything for plus his objective (other than warning Danzo) was Naruto!

itachi is a brutal evil mass murderer who killed kids who were no threat to konoha on their own, solely cos an old man said so. and just because he doesnt kill personally doesnt mean he didnt aid and abett the killings of the jinchuriki and order kisame to try and kill two jounin.

Itachi isn't a bad guy for doing what he did. He did what he did for the leaf and for his only brother. If he didn't kill his clan the leaf may have been destroyed. If you think Itachi is evil for what he did, then you should feel the same about Gaara.

Nagato could be considered a battle to kill but I can see how some would not think that. So what battles(if any) did Itachi try to kill someone?

No he never fought anyone to kill them that is what makes him so strong and dangerous. He doesnt want to fight to kill but if he does fight to kill he will go all out and try to end it quickly

Itachi is a technical pacifist, he would prefer to maim than kill.

even the clan massacre and the fight against Nagato fall under this category, the only reason Itachi did kill was because he had no other option. but he never fights for that.

his actions directly resulted in half of konoha being destroyed, its strongest members being murdered and a 4th world war starting.
first he commited mass genocide of women and children, and drove sasuke to insanity and evil by turning him into a vengeful traitor. then he spared orochimaru for no reason and let him declare war on konoha. he even threatened high treason by wanting to sell info about konha to hostile nations. withholding intel on akatsuki from konha led to the murders of asuma and jiraiya who would have lived had they konwn a little more about their opponents. and he started the world war by refusing to warn or seal up the remaining jinchuriki and even helping them seal them up faster than if he had just stayed away from akatsuki. itachi is a brutal cruel murderer and child mindraper. nothing he did benefitted sasuke and genocide doesnt paint a good picture for konoha. if a village forces its soldiers to do somethign so horriific they arent worth saving. itahci should have killed the elders just to round out his genocidal kiling spree. he never even TRIED to save or protect his parents. and dont tell me not a single uchiha was born between massacre and kyuubi attack . itachi killed kids.

If he didn't kill his clan the leaf may have been destroyed.

a what if thats hardly worth murdering women and children over. how is a few kids and housewives threats to national security? destrroying the leaf is the last thing uchihas wanted if they were planning revolution to take political power. danzo was konohas real problem and itachi is danzo's loyal dog. making him also konohas real problem. no genocidal murderer can be considered good.

the difference between the two is gaara's well written and his murdering killing sprees arent glossed over and painted as heroism. gaara actually realised the problems in living as a psychopathic selfish dickweed. all itachi did was say he failed. which you tend to do when your plan to make sasuke a hero consists of sadistically and cruelly mindraping him into a coma.

If Kishi portrayed Itachis acts as heroism then that is what it is. The real difference is that Itachi went on a murder spree because he was ordered too. Gaara slaughtered people for his own personal enjoyment. Yes you can say Gaara realized his sick problems, with the help of Naruto, but you can't ignore the fact that it wasn't Itachis initial plan to do everything he did.
