Does Chidori hurt the body?

I ask this question after looking at this pic:

I realised that when Sasuke used Chidori against Itachi, seems like the skin on his hand torn out

Maybe prior battle damage and/or his inexperience. We don't see any damage from chidori to the user later on in the manga.

It's just like like how Rasengan would hurt Naruto and Rasenshuriken. Inexperience is why the techniques hurt their bodies.

I think its partly inexperience.i also think he used too much chakra for that chidori:his anger/inability to completely control all that chakra damaged his hand

I don't think so Kakashi told him he can only do it twice because of the curse mark so if that was his 3rd one his curse mark would've spread
