He definitely died before Kabuto could have come and killed him. Remember when he was first summoned with edo tensei he didnt know who the controller of the spell was. If Kabuto had killed him so that he could use him as an edo Madara would know exactly who summoned him.

that's sth we would all like to know... many other people's DNA too. how did he get Itachi's since his corpse was taken by Obito and Zetsu? or Nagato's? maybe he found their DNA from elsewhere and not from the bodies. maybe Oro had samples, though that still doesn't answer anything.
