When did the SO6P became the SO6P?

Hi Guys,
I don't know if anyone have created a thread about this in the past but I am very curious about some of the questions people are asking. The main one is, who will be the next sage of the six path. It is obvious that we do not know and that's why we are entitled to our own opinions. Some people say Madara because he has the eyes and he also implanted the Sunju DNA so basically that puts him closest to the SO6P level. Some say Naruto because of he represents the SO6P body and peaceful ways.
My question is, When and how did the SO6P became the SO6P? How did he get the sheringan which evolved to the Rinnegan? We do know that he was a monk or in other words a priest who traveled the world spreading the word of peace to war-torn countries. We also know that he was the first to understand Chakra and it is obvious that he was strong enough to defeat the 10 tails and seal it within him. Now with that being said, Could it be that he became the SO6P after he became the Jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails? Is there any where in the Manga that clearly states he was already the SO6P before he defeated and sealed the Ten-Tails?

Most of us are saying that you can't become the SO6P without having both the eyes and the body of the original SO6P.
If that's the case then Madara can't become the next SO6P because naturally he represents the eyes even though he was implanted senju's DNA. The same goes for Naruto because he represents only the Body of the SO6P.
IMO, you can only become the SO6P by becoming the Ten Tails Jinchuriki and therefore Naruto will become the next SO6P.
