Common, the kages were already low on chakra and stamina. If the fight was a fresh fight even edo madara would have been defeated. Perfect susanoo my foot, Gaara could make a very deep quick sand and then restrain the susano with vast amounts of sand when the head of susanoo is near the ground tsunade can power up oonoki for a jinton that will definitely destroy the head and then Gaara seals him.

I know the kages are underrated just because Masashi decided to troll them and take away most of their abilities(jutsus) just to make madara look stronger.
