I'm talking about people who where born blind. Not those blind because of accidents.

I want to know your OWN THOUGHTS. I don't want answers from some sites. This is a discussion only.
If yes. How?
If no. Why?

For me, it's a no, cause i think, you need vision in order for you to make a dream. Your mind need virtual things, but how will your mind make virtual things if you haven't seen a single thing? This is just what i'm thinking, i'm not saying this is the real thing.

I'm slightly disturbed by this thread... :/

Why wouldn't a person, born blind, not have dreams? Dreams are created by what one knows...and what they feel. Their emotions and stuff. So being blind wouldn't hinder this at all. I can't speculate on what said dreams would be like, but they'd be based on the individual's situation and what they're dealing with.

it alldepends on the imagination of the person.

for instance, for a blind person to know what a straight line is, you could place a ruler on their forearm, and such.

people who are blind, and others who have been labelled as being disabled, are not disabled, mainly because they learn how to cope, therefore making them more skillfull then "NORMAL" people. :)

we don't come with something new in our dreams every face my eye had seen even for a 0.000001 second i can see it in my dreams
if the blind one was blind since he was born what he will see in his dreams is black screen but he will hear things
if he was blind after he was normal for some reason his dreams would be normal but day by day will be blurred and misty

Dreams come from deep within your conscious, this is why most people only have dreams when they are asleep. You say that you need vision to dream, but this is not exactly true, dreams usually revolve around what is lurking on your conscious the most (if you have a crush on someone you may dream of them), or dreams revolve around something physically happening to you in real time (if you need to pee, most people often dream of themselves going to the bathroom, as your subconscious is aware of your body), being able to use your eyes just gives a more realistic feel to your dreams as your subconscious can recreate images you are familiar with.

Im not blind, so I dont know this for a fact, but I would imagine blind people can dream, just not the same way as most people. Since dreams are about whats on your mind, not what you see, im sure the same concept works for them too. If you say something to them that deeply affects them and sticks around in the conscious, they may dream of it. Not being able to see simply just means they dont have a fixed idea of what it is they should see, and their imagination is let loose.

Then sorry for this thread. xd

It's called imagination.
so, what is yours? Is it a Yes or No?

i could say, you have explained it very well, but i'm hoping you didn't cheat. xd remember, own thoughts, not to based on some sites. :)

well, i think that's enough. :)

my answer is yes, they can dream. there are some upsides to being blind, i mean, you dont have to worry about having nightmares, i mean, nightmares come from things that are percieved as scary through sight, sound, and touch, but the major contributor to nightmares is sight.

I think they can imagine something to dream of, their own perspective of the world guessing how people, birds, cars... look like just by their sounds, I actually think they have allot of good "fantasy" dreams

what the ****... everyone is dreaming while sleeping, it's just that you don't always remember. when you are dreaming your brain works up what you experienced during the day and makes you more rested...

This thread baffled me...It's unorthodox but also weirdly asked. I mean, obviously blind people can dream. The problem with your question, is that you almost present blind people as people with no concrete understanding or visualization of the actual world; which is completely false.

The conscious is what creates the dream fantasy. And that's not related to vision. It's just based on emotions, sensations and general understanding. CFighter and Shinobi Train said what I wanted to say anyways.

Anyway, the only thing your thread did, was to inspire me to write an Inception FF with a blind character. Wait, it's not such a bad idea -.-

Why not xd But I'm not getting back to FF till December. Both reading and writing. I'll be continuing my current one and probably start on 1-2 new ones. Who knows, this might one  An Inception FF has been on my mind since last year but it's hard to get a good storyline for something of that caliber.
