I've put alot of thought into this thread and kishi's writing pattern.
Now if you dont know what a tragic villain is, a character who, although acting on primarly malign (evil) or selfish goals, is either not in full control of their actions or their emotions and the reader can sympathize with due to them not being evil by choice but by being a victim ( Sasuke, Pain, Madara, Orochimaru, Kabuto, etc.). Even so the protagonist may even feel empathy or understand what the tragic villain is going through (Naruto, Kakashi, and Jiraiya). Instead of Naruto hating sasuke he understands him and wants to shoulder his hatred and pain. This is what makes him a good protagonist. Even understanding Pain (Nagato) and his reasons.
This is what makes naruto a good story having this type of element, even we the readers can sympathize with and try to understand the villains in the manga. Thats why no one really hates any of the villains because we ( readers) kind of feel sorry for the villains and also embrace them for who they are. Like today when I was reading the new chapter of the flash back of obito and madara seeing them in that state at the end of the chapter I felt empathy for them. Although we are rooting for madara and obito and at the same time we believe they should be stopped.
Even the uchiha clan history and the massacre puts depth in the story, this is why I believe that kishi's writing abilities are on another level than most mangaka. I dont know if this thread has a point but this was just something I was thinking about and thought I should share and I hope it wasnt too long, sorry if it was.
