[Discussion] What was the original reason for war?

Don't just say "religion". Religion is just an excuse for war, not the cause. If the entire world was atheist, there would still be war, just different reasons. So why war? Why the killing? Is killing someone in war murder? Or is it just killing? Also, it was said that one day a war machine would be created that would end war since no one would have the heart to fight anymore. I think the atomic bomb was supposed to be that instrument, but it didn't have the intended effect for some reason. Why?

Also, one who is well prepared for war will have peace. So is it the instruments of war that fuel fighting? Or is the lack there of that allows it?

What are some other thoughts on war?

Also, why do we have countries? If there were no countries, then there would be little reason for war...instead it would just be random people killing each other for stupid stuff. I guess land and power have a great influence on this. Greed...without it, there wouldn't be a reason really to kill people.

I think the real reason for war is greed. They want something, so when they want something they try to get it at any cost. We try to use force to obtain it. If we can't get something, then it seems natural to try to use any means to obtain it. Unfortunately, things like that cost the lives of others, which is wrong.

There are countries because everyone is too different. With all the different opinions out there, who knows how many lives would be taken if we all lived together.

Hmmm...humans fighting other humans has always confused me. We're supposed to be smart, yet we're so incredibly stupid.

If everyone was mixed together though, and there was no governments, I still have to wonder what it would be like...would people just takes sides again and divide?
