Discussing the psyche of Tobi/Obito
Hey guys,
Good afternoon from PA, I want to discuss a tricky subject in the manga that people love and hate at this moment. This is my observation, and my interpretation of the psyche of tobi/obito. Let me know what you guys think, and be free to challenge my theory.
The reason my concern is towards Tobi's psyche is because several times he will make a statement like, "Ive waited too long for Tsuki no me", or "I cant fail." According to Madara Uchiha, this moon eye plan was mutually accepted between him and tobi (Madara never claims to have come up with the plan by himself). Interestingly enough though, Tobi acknowledges knowing kakashi and Gai intimately at some time during his lifetime. For example, when kakashi explained Tobi's ocular techniques and asked him where he got the ocular powers, Tobi retorts by telling kakashi that he shouldn't speak so quickly because he is all words and no actions (probably a reference to kakashis inability to save Rin). So in some way, Tobi is Obito, BUT his consciousness is split somehow. This is what would be called a split consciousness theory, but HOW is it split? That is my question, and here comes my solution.
By now its obvious that tobi is using some Zetsu-related power to heal himself and stay alive. His drive to live is the moons eye plan, which I explained was planned between Madara AND Tobi. One thing to note is that the masked figure, tobi, has been around for some time. If Tobi and Madara have communicated then Tobi has been around before and after madaras death, during the fourths mizukage time, and during the second historical nine tails attack. If this is the case then there is no possible explanation, within naruto logic, to say that Tobi has been Obito this whole time. However, according to last weeks revelation, the man under the mask is OBITO, so narutoverse has a problem historically and logically. UNLESS, the real tobi moves from body to body is a similar fashion as orochimaru. If this is the case, then we can be calm, but it still doesnt explain why Tobi has intimate memories of Obito, and who it might truly be.
So this leads me to think about this in this manner...
When Madara was outcast from the Uchiha clan, one of his apologetics for justifying the continued hatred of Senju clan was that his brother was killed for the cause of overcoming the Senju. By leaving, no one had a clue of what Madara might be planning and what he has done, therefore there are no flashback, but we can assume. Now as far as we know, no one followed Madara therefore he had no SUPPORTERS, especially for any crazy plans like the moons eye plan. So who might have joined his cause? I say no one, but rather he summoned someone who WOULD. Now why would madara only fight hashirama, the wood style user, to gain some DNA from him? What was his plan? And this is where my theory come in. MADARA created ZETSU, BUT ZETSU is NOT TOBI. Why was creating zetsu important at all? My theory is that Tobi is Izuna, Madara's brother. Who else would support Madara's plans when everybody betrayed him? Through his rinnegan, and zetsus power, he could make an immortal being that can take the form and, possibly (its a bit of a stretch) the power of the person!
However, thats not all. For some reason, if im right, not all consciousness is completely driven out. Therefore, lets say tobi decides on a new body, his consciousness takes over for the most part, but deep within some of the persons feelings and experiences remain. This would explain why Obito seemingly became evil, but its because another consciousness has taken over. So obit will remember things like kakashis promise (which I believe the true obito would completely forgive), but its mixed with the feelings of the dream of the moons eye plan, which could possibly bring peace.
I want to explain more, but I think this is sufficient.
