You won't understand this if you haven't read the LG (so most likely only a few people here can).

If Light was put under the same circumstances as Akiyama (w/o the Death Note), how far do you think he could reach? Or could he actually pull through and complete all the rounds?

First Round: Liar Game
Second Round: Minority Rule
Revival Round: Downsizing Game
Third Round: Contraband Game
Second Revival Round: Eastern Army vs Western Army
Fourth Round Qualifier: Pandemic Game
Fourth Round: Modified Musical Chairs
Third Revival Round: Bid Poker

Let's just say that he starts each round in the same condition that Akiyama started them in (he's only there for the last part of the RR and so on). He wants to support Nao as well.

To be honest, I'm not sure if he would get past the 3rd round. Since his arrogance and overconfidence cost him his life it doesn't seem like he's very well suited for this. Then again he's Light and has pulled off plenty of impressive gambits, if he gets past the 3rd round most of the rounds are built around trust and manipulative skill, Light's not exactly the greatest in those categories.

Plus there's the whole thing about fighting the LGT offices or actually gettign money for yourself, of just being straight up out to win the game. Light can't really factor all of that in without getting outplayed by Akiyama utterly. Also lol @ no posts ITT, you guys should totally read LG. Then again maybe not.

He seemed kind of manipulative but if people look up to you as a god then I guess it's hard for them to betray you lol

So does he only beat the first 3 games or are there games past the Third Round that he could beat too?

probably up to the third round... hard to see him progressing even further but then again if he had some real motive he would do it. Light was just too arrogant, especially after he killed L. most likely he would make it up to the third round, but if he had serious reasons he could continue. not sure if he could beat Akiyama. in the end Light's strength was his arrogance supported by and in the fact that quite randomly he came across a magical notebook, after that his major reasons of worry were to orchestrate, mostly unsuspecting, people's deaths. he got pretty much cornered by L and then taken out once more players were involved.

Well arrogance is definitely something that will get him defeated in the Liar Game. If he loses his God complex with the death note gone however, then I doubt he would share the same amount of confidence in his actions.

Females pretty much fapped to him 24/7 so yeah, that's basically it. The only reason he got a bunch of followers was because it was quite obviously public that there were magical murders going on, he basically had no idea about them until he was notified they call him "kira", and he didn't even use them in any way.

Other than the obvious fact that the intelligence in DN is way higher than in our real life, Light's basically just a smart high school student when compared to someone like Akiyama who single handedly took down a major corporation and majored in psychology, so yeah. By the end of the LGT Light's going to wish he never crossed his path..mwahahaaha

Yeah, which is why he probably won't get too far. I don't remember everything in DN off the top of my head but he's not the best suited for matches like this, especially against someone like Yokoya he'd be completely destroyed.

intelligence in DN is like watching (and understanding) some very intense chess game or sth. so, yeah it is more sophisticated than normal. Light is intelligent and he was a top student and then sorta elite in the uni, but his basic fault was his arrogance. never seemed to learn anything; it was always about proving that he is the smartest, he is the best, he blablabla. which after a point got counterproductive. in the beginning, indeed he had to outsmart and shake off L and the police and that was the part where Light was doing some major work. after that, not so much. Akiyama on the other hand is more about observing and understanding his situation irrespectively of what he has already achieved, he is never static. so, yeah he could take Light down. not from the start, but Akiyama would win.

You know I thought the Second Revival Round would be a cake walk for Akiyama based on the opponents, but given the circumstances.. he's a true genius for facing that guy at 17-card poker. I thought Light might have a good chance at beating that round at first but I'm pretty sure a good portion of the audience who knew what was going on thought Akiyama was screwed. I could be just underrating Light but meh..

It's also supposed to be a team battle, so I guess his match isn't the only thing to consider.

Hmm I couldn't really see him supporting Nao though, he would be more like Yokoya, imo. But put L in the game, and it would be interesting :)
Light could probably go as far as Yokoya, but he would need the same funds to do it.

I forgot but is L supposed to be rich or not? I'd assume that he'd have Yakoya's cash advantage but some of Akiyama's ideals if that's the case. If Light is playing, I want him to be about Akiyama's status too for fairness.

Well I think L is pretty rich, at least he can get whatever funds from police and government support. Say he would infiltrate Liar Game, lol. He would probably be much more logical, he would see through the so called "ways not to lose" strategis right away :) but he could probably be affected psycologically, and have some difficulties in reading a guy like Yokoya, who knows, specially due to his issue about being 100 % sure, and not just 80 or 90 %

Didn't Light get good scores when it came to the criteria needed for that though? It's been a while since I read/watched Death Note though so I only know his plans when it came to "feats". Maybe I should just have his goal be to win the Liar Game instead of having to distribute his winnings among the losers for Nao's ideals.

Light would fail in Revival: Downsizing and if not, then at Musical Chairs.

He's not a people person.
Hmm, he could actually do well im Musical Chairs. All he needs is to gain a few allies and do the game in the same manner as Yokoya, probably even better if he just played along and infiltrated Yokoyas group.. Though I must say the only person to come up with such brilliant plan as Akiyama could be L ^^

Btw I miss Hancock already, feel so bad for her that she didn't get married lol, though it seems like years ago now..

Who do you guys think is better at convincing (possibly manipulating) others, Light or Yakoya? I'd personally go with Yakoya since he's a natural dictator but I wouldn't say it's impossible that Light could use Nao to help him get others on his side. However if Light tries anything too immoral, Nao's probably not going to put up with it unless she doesn't know about it herself.
