Toph beating Gaara???

The last anime con i went to, me and my friend(at the time) was debating whether or not toph could stand up to gaara. I was like, NO!, and he was like, YES! So who do yall think wins this?

EDIT: ok, the series are just too different to compare character, powers and abilities. things in Naruto are way too obviously imaginary, whereas in the Avatar franchise the element of fantasy and magic is not so much in-your-face.

Toph. She can troll Gaara by slamming his sand into the ground, causing him to waste chakra and when he's running low, Toph can kill him.

She can't see in sand (well, not good) and when objects are in the air she can't see them at all...would be very hard to hit gaara somehow when he's on his sand flying in the air.

hell nah, her weakness is sand and that is gaara's calling. he also has the ultimate defense and it will be more than enough to block a couple flying rocks considering it can block amaterasu. he is the perfect opponent for her, not to mention in the air she cant "see" him with her feet.

You two need to update yourselves. In the final season, in the episode where the Aang Gang finds out Ozai's plan, Toph shows she is can bend sand freely and can see just as good as on Earth while on sand.

Also, as long as it is Earth and Steel based, Toph can sense it while it is airborne.
