The Mangekyou Sharingan

Gaining the Mangekyou Sharingan.

It's said you have to kill your best friend. But I don't think that's the case.

Look at Itachi. He gained the Mangekyou and didn't kill Shisui. Shisui DID kill himself. Maybe Itachi felt like he somehow contributed to his death?

And Obito (Possibly) gained his Mangekyou through the fact that he realized he wasn't strong enough to defeat Kakashi or protect Rin.

And how did Shisui gain his Mangekyou? I think you have to lose something precious to you. A dream, a friend, etc. etc...

Anyone else have any ideas/agree?

Just thought of something. Notice that Madara (LEGIT Madara) and Izuna gained their Mangekyou Sharingan "Through constant training"....

...dafuq?

So if that is true, then...did Kakashi gain his through training?

Itachi lied (possibly) to make Sasuke despise him even more.

Just think if your older brother told you "I just killed the whole family and lied to your face about killing my best friend."

That would kinda pour salt in the wounds, wouldn't it?

Although how kakashi gained his ms is unknown.

I think you have to kill your friend or blood relatives can pass down their powers
shisui and itachi must have killed their friends. we have seen that danzo makes his disciples fight against their best friends as in case of sai, so they must have killed their friends in root and gained MS, after that they became friends.

Shisui - If he was in root, then he killed his best friend in battle, the same way as Sai vs Shin.

Itachi - Witnessed Shisui's death

Sasuke - Witnessed Itachi's death

Madara, Izuna, & Kakashi - As far as we know, its through constant training.
