[Discussion] why do Americans hate skaters?

honestly man i skate everywhere, i dont have a bike because they get stolen to easily like outta peoples garden and shit whereas skate board is in my room when its dark out

....I don't think this deserves a reply...just...no.

Out of all the skaters I've known(and I've known quite a few) there is maybe two that fit your description.

Huh, doesn't sound like you live in the US then...that's all we have over here. Every once in a while I'll see one not fitting that description so much, but simply because they're on a skateboard automatically groups them in there...no matter how they look.

I live in Texas. I've had plenty of skater friends. Maybe where you live they are like that, but not where I do.

I skateboard casually and don't get harrassed. I get the usual do a trick here and there but nothing to serious.

While I do skate, I have been told off and even fined a few times but then again it is my fault. I think it's fine to skate in public areas that are open but in area's where you may hit into or hurt others, I can see why they're getting told off and whatnot.

Also, with vids; we're never given the full story. You never no, most of them may have been asked to leave plenty of times but just haven't. Only when action's taken do they flip out a camera and make the securities look bad. I'm not being biased because I'm a skater too but sometimes I think they just get sick & tired of the youth coming along everyday to skate where there's no skating allowed.

As a ex sk8boarder and still snowboarder I can say it's everywhere for one reason.. ruining property and waxing everything obvious enough ? When deck bounces into a car or different things that people dont like, but who cares? sk8parks are fun but nothing beats streets
