I know, he got his MS activated when he was dying in the cave alone. Right when Kakashi and Rin left he had some time to die. Just like Madara how he got his rinnegon activated after his fight with 1st Hokage Harashirama!

I think he killed Rin as well. I definitely think she was a major catalyst in Obito becoming Tobi by either allowing him to obtain MS by killing a loved one, or either he learned of her death and it basically caused him to lose his mind. Either-way, the manga just got a whole lot more interesting
