There have always been fanboys. As soon as someone decided that (in example) Minato was invincible thanks to FTG, there were 5 people ready to join in and believe him. As soon as Itachi came around as this super powerful, genius ninja, he was worshipped as better than Minato. Then, when Sasuke killed him, Itachi became a martyr and Sasuke became a new God. Then miraculously, Itachi was brought back and he even managed to free himself from the hold of Edo Tensei, so the Itachi lovers acted as if it was the second coming of the savior to the ninja world.
The problem with these mindsets of worshipping these powerhouses of ninja world is that they ARE still people. People written in the world to serve a role to a story that isn’t honestly about them. I know that I’m going to get flamed (if I’m lucky I guess haha) but we have to realize as the Base that we cannot let that blind us from the powers as others.
For example, Hiruzen is often declared “The God Shinobi” and is claimed to be stronger than Hashirama. They both served different roles with their different strengths. If Hashirama had been there for the Uchiha Masscre, he might’ve handled it differently than Hiruzen. Same with Hiruzen against Madara and the Kyuubi, do you think he would’ve been able to fight Madara as well as the Kyuubi with Enma? It doesn’t sound all that realistic. He would put up a fight, but the different set of skills, their “roles”, were far different and they were placed as they should’ve for the survival of the village.
Personal feelings aside we all have to accept that there are some things that some of our favorites, even with all their fantastic skills, could not do. We cannot assume they have an answer for everything, that’s why even now there are 5 of the greatest ninja of the 5 hidden villages fighting one of the most fearsome and powerful people in existence, while they could dispatch some of our favorites in literally seconds. THEY DON’T HAVE THE SKILL SET THAT ANOTHER DOES FOR THE SITUATION.
We all have our favorites, we all have our arguments about them, but they aren’t all purpose ninja. They aren’t the swiss army knifes of the ninja world. They are people who trained their whole lives to get where they are, and they would probably love that we love them so much, but would be the first to dismiss some very radical things people say about them.
