Can you switch to a mangekyou sharingan if your eye was implanted?

Does kakashi switch to his mangekyou sharingan or is it always activated i can't remember? If it is always activated it could be evidence that tobi's eye wasn't implanted and he just might be obito. This isn't a tobi is obito thread so don't flame me just asking a question :ice:

When Kakashi got Obito Sharingan it was just a two tomoe, Kakashi like Tobi advanced it into the Mangekyo Sharingan on there own so they can switch from Sharingan to Mangekyo
