Kakashi's was an assassination type technique and was in conjunction with his speed that caused tunnel vision which could be countered til he got a Sharingan eye. The Third Raikage used his in conjunction with his lightning armor which allowed him to use it in frontal or heavy assault. I believe he held off an army so his men could escape.
