Possible plot hole J man vs pain fight

Sage mode is a very powerful sensory technique, as we have seen Naruto and Kabuto use it. Naruto was able to sense chakra miles away and Kabuto was able to fight blind in a cave just using sage mode.

So the question is why did J man get ambushed by the other paths after he defeated the first 3? He should have seen this one coming with sage sensing. Ok he wasn't a perfect sage, but he had ma and pa with him, so at least they should have sensed the paths right?

I think you've hit the nail on the head in saying he wasn't a perfect sage. Ma and Pa have nothing to do with it, they're just there to harness chakra.

EDIT: maybe he used to much power and his sensing ablities weakened(he was using his sm chakra to fast so adv's ran out)

I'd imagime the paths can disguise there chakra. After all it's all Nagatos chakra, he may not be able to discern between different paths.

possible plot hole... also possible that j-man wasn't as good as naruto and kabuto at it.. naruto's features didn't change as drastically as j-man's so that leads me to believe he has better control of the tech

You need to be a perfect Sage in order to possess such sensor like abilities. Ma and Pa don't have anything to do with it really.

Jirayia's dead was important for the plot. Full intel, Naruto's development as a character, talk-no-jutsu used against Nagato, etc. It was inevitable.

j-mans sm is not better than narutos but he uses it better and is smarter than naruto......narutos is perfect
