Well, for me its a mixture of quality of the anime itself, but MOSt of it is my personal enjoyment. So, you might hate my list or you might agree. I dont know, its all personal choice.

Fullmetal and Soul Eater are great, i definitely recommend them if you havent seen them.

I haven't watched that much anime in my life. Mainly because it either really really sucks or it's really really good, there is no in between so I'm really cautious about what anime I watch.

But here is the anime I find good.
1. Naruto
2. Pokemon(it was my whole childhood and I can't give it up for anything, but I find the manga a bit better. Red and Blue are more interesting than Ash and Gary IMO)
3. FLCL
4. Cowboy Beebop
5. Fullmetal Alchemist

I apologize, but I simply cannot fit all of my favourites in just 5 slots - I like many animes for different reasons. I can honestly say, however, that FMA(B) will always be my all-time favourite.

Also, out of the anime list and in their own separate anime movie list I will place:
1. Almost all of studio Ghibli's productions
2. 5 cms per second (amazing animation)
3. The place promised in our early days (same as above)
