Orochimaru was always the Strongest of the Sannin

First off it's clear that He was more intelligent than the other two, his hype and feat's also surpass the other two. Even with SM Jiraiya would have a Hell of a fight to defeat orochimaru.

It is also clear that Orochimaru was Hiruzen's favorite of the 3, and as the hokage to choose a Successor he had at one point decided that Orochimaru would be Yondaime.

Well at this ^ time in the manga, Minato was long gone. but i would believe that when Hiruzen made the decision in his mind, minato was still a child, So the only line up was the Sannin.

Naruto=Jiraiya
sakura=Tsunade

and since Sasuke= Naruto in strength
that would mean Orochimaru=Jiraiya


and since Sasuke or naruto >>>>> Sakura
then Oro or Jiraiya >>>>> Tsunade

can't really decide but, nothing would change my mind about jiraiya and oro being on the same level sm or not, the fight can go either way and tsunade is of course the weekest of the three. hiruzen loved oro as a son and maybe just maybe he knew that jiraiya would never want to take the hokage title (he lived a proud perv and died a proud perv) U_U R.I.P j-man

According to what suigetsu said, sasuke has 0 chance of beating orochimaru if his arms weren't sealed. It also seems that sasuke accepted this somewhat. So by that, I do believe Oro>J-man.

Have you read the Japanese novel Snake,Toad, and Slug. Snake>Toad,Toad>Slug, and Slug>Snake which makes them equal.

I agree. It's debatable that even with Jiraiya using Sage mode Orochimaru could still win. Though I do have to argue that Tsunade could possibly stalemate him with her regenerative powers. Her chakra reserves are massive, only made larger with the Yin seal. So it would basically be a back and forth of who would run out of chakra first. (Although I think this kind of plays into the whole symbolic lock thing, Snake beats frog, Frog beats Slug, Slug beats Snake, though I don't think Tsunade or Orochimaru could actually kill each other).

It is debateble...but i'd put my money on Oro. He has live's to spear...unlike Jman. Ma and Pa could be a problem though.

The reason I think many people don't think Orochimaru is as powerful as Jiraiya is because he doesn't have the flashy skills like Giant Rasengan. People love skills that destroy half the damn battlefield. Orochimaru doesn't really many of those so people don't see him as being super powerful.
