Would Hashirama have a response to Pain/Nagato?

When Naruto was captured initially by pain, he told him he could not forgive him for killing his master and sensei, that he couldn't forgive him for destroying his village.

then pain told HIM that he ALSO could not forgive him for his village being destroyed by the leaf and have his nation be destroyed by other nations battles with each other...on his land.

he then went on to say they both are the same and they both wished for peace but pain had the only answer at the time: to achieve it by the Tailed Beasts.
Naruto Doesnt agree but he does not have a answer for Pain/Nagato when he asks: how he intends to end the cycle of hatred and bring peace to the ninja world.

My question simply is, What would the first hokage, Hashirama have to say to Pain/Nagato's question. would he even have an answer? would he be able to give him legitimate answer to end the cycle of hatred and bring peace to the ninja world?

(And yes i know he would have been dead by the time pain was around ..this is a hypothetical question BTW)

still havent heard many good responses...im sure hashirama would have a response along the lines of Love/Unity...i dont think thats outside of hashiramas personality
