I think people overestimate the gates. People have said that gai can match A with the gates, that he is top ten material and that he can even match a bijuu if he opens the 8th gate. what do you think?

Based on what we have seen of the seventh gate I would say the 8th gate could not match a bijuu.

Guy can not beat A. Maybe if he opens the 8th gate he would win but then that would just be a draw. Even with the 8th gate I doubt he would win.

No he could not. A could dodge Ama, a thech that said not to have an escape. guy has shown nowhere near that speed with the 7th gate. I am sure it is fast but lets be serious he does not compare(from what we have seen).

Upto the 5 gates each gate gives a little power.
but the difference between the power of 5th gate and 6th gate is very high.
Same with the 6th and 7th, the 7th gives a lot of power.
So we can definitely assume that 8th gate would be very powerful

He is on par with tailed beasts as we saw him in seven gates.
Though its a lightning "Shield" the sheer force of one of his punches would shatter the bones behind the shield. Guy is extremely powerful, but on the downside you can only last so long before you are helpless (Guy after Kisame fight, Lee during Gaara fight). A is more consistent he can hold up in a long fight though. If he could match his power for a short time he may be able to wear out the gates.
As the eighth gate is unlocked the immense power you get im sure is ridiculous but death occurs.
The point is to win the fight not die so eighth gate is kind of something Kakashi would never let Him use.
