No, Naruto is not equal to the Sage. The Sage of the Six Paths was the jinchuriki of the juubi, not just one bijuu. Additionally, he had the Rinnegan and creation of all things. Naruto does not.

I always thought they were going for a sasuke is the the sages eyes, naruto is the body type of thing. Since technically naruto is part of the senju clan and sasuke is uchiha.

The sage of six paths was a God, you cannot put man on the same wavelength as a god. Plus, the sage was able to make the moon with Nagato's five seal barrier technique wheres Nagato was only able to make a spherical object made of large rocks, no where near the size. Knowing that we could see that Naruto had a hard time with Nagato who's abilities are far lower than the Sages, the sage would destroy Naruto.
