It#s how people translate the suffix 'sama' I'd say, as a very respectful way of addressing someone who is their master.

By being extremely respected. "Lord Hokage" is a good example.
Many, many people greatly respected Orochimaru, like Kabuto, Kimimaro, Guren, Sound 4, and the rest of his minions. It's for him giving them power and a purpose in life.
Plus, "Lord Orochimaru" just rolls off tongue.

But hes not everybody's master 0.o

Right but I've never heared people like Tsunade or Naruto calling him Lord. It's like the others say, people who greatly respect someone would call him like that. :)

Oh and then there is another reason: being a fanatic fanboy for Sasuke for example. ;)

ord/lôrd/
Noun:
(in the UK) A man of noble rank or high office; a peer.
Exclamation:
Used in exclamations expressing surprise or worry, or for emphasis: "Lord, I'm cold!".
Verb:
Confer the title of Lord upon.
Synonyms:
master - god

I know of only one who deserves this title ....Sasuke

he is a noble gentleman ( he even has purple chakra or aura cause isn't all chakra blue except bijuu? purple represents nobility)

when people see the pure awesomeness that resonates off him, one can't help but to exclaim "Lord!" In pure awe.

He is a deity, a god, He is the mewtwo if you will of Narutoverse.

Therefore one should address lord Sasuke as such...a lord.

Fixed~

At least characters actually call Orochimaru "Lord". You fanboys just like to suck Sasuke's d*ck, that's all.

Sanin was given to Orochimaru, Jiraya and Tsunade by Hanzo of salamanda during the during the third ninja war as a mark of respect for fighting him and withstanding him in a battle.
