Perfect Susanoo is probably the best if it's engaged, although it seems a little slow to setup. However, suppose the ninja in question is asleep in bed, and some other ninja who is extremely stealthy sneaks up to slit his throat - in that situation, Perfect Susanoo does nothing and the sleeping Uchiha dies, whereas Gaara's sand shield would have saved him from the assassin's blade.

Shinra Tensei of Naruto imo. But of your list i'll say gaara's defense wall because anyone who can use preta path can get right past Sasuke and Neji.

- You have to know your being attacked to use susano'o what if someone stabs (and uchiha) In the heart while their sleeping, for the uchiha there in big trouble, for the third raikage, he can just roll over and continue sleeping knowing the katana is broken

-susano'o cost's chakra and is stranous to use, the 3rd raikages defense is just his natural body

-susano'o hurts, a lot. I get that it's a defense because it stops your opponents from harming you, but then it harms you anyway.

-3rd raikages body is his and always with him, if an uchiha loses there eyes, or run out of chakra they lose their defense, how's someone gonna take away the thirds own body?

For those reasons, i would personal much rather have the thirds body as a defense than susano'o

The best defense is a good offense upon failing that making yourself intangible so no one can touch you works too. So I say Tobi's technique. Yeah I knoq it's a bad time to say this when it's been figured out but still...

I think that it also depends on how long the defense can be maintained and if its an absolute defense, meaning that it protects from all directions.

Palm rotation
Sand defense
Intangibility
Third Raikage's Lightning Shroud

There are also very powerful defenses, though they only protect from one side
