Why does no one bother using clones?

Kakashi does uses clones in almost all of his fight
Naruto uses clones even outside of fights xD
Gaara makes Sand clones
Zetsu makes clones
Itachi uses clones
Konohamaru uses clones
Muu uses that splitting clones thing
Deidara uses clay clones clones
Bee uses ink clones
Onnoki uses rock clones
2nd Mizukage has Jouki boy clone
Madara uses Mokuton clones
Hashirama uses Mokuton clones
Yamato uses Mokuton clones
And they are more >.>

I meant acutally using them for the majority of a battle not for one little thing such as avoiding an attack or what not. I havent really seen anyone actively use clones to fight except for kakashi and naruto

Clones(Kage Bunshins i mean) are forbidden jutsu. Not everyone know how to use them

Well, remember that Naruto was shunned several times for using shadow clones when they don't work out the first time because it's considered "a waste of chakra". I guess a major flaw would be that the opponent would use clones too, thus making it futile (got this from the Zabuza vs. Kakashi fight when Kakashi thought about using water clones).

Deidara uses em a lot
Gaara made good use of em in his fight vs Mizukage
Mizukage used Jouki boy
Zabuza uses em alot
Madara Made a freaking Susanoo army >.>

And as already said, They can't be used for long fights much cause beside Naruto's KM clones, they vanish after a single hit

The most recent use of clones in the anime was Darui... not sure about Manga, prolly because they require great chakra control

1. You use chakra more quickly
2. One solid hit and the clone is gone
3. Lower level clones can only use certain elements of lower level

Reason is because clones are one of the fastest ways to lose chakra if you dont have a high chakra reserve, there is a reason why kage bunshin's are forbidden.

Other clones such as muzi bunshin's, suna bunshin's, karasu bunshin's. Basically any bunshin's where there is already a source for the bunshin's to work the user conserves their chakra. So for example if kakashi was to use a muzi bunshin and took advantage of a near by water source then he conserves his chakra more. However if there isnt a water source and he produces a muzi bunshin's with his own chakra then it takes more.

Best way to use bunshin's is if there is a source/medium for the user to take advantage of and save their chakra as much as possible
