The Sword of totsuka is useless in battle unless your target is huge, immoblie or you catch them by surprise! Proof Below!

Orochimaru's case - His eight brach tech is huge and he was Immobile in the snakes mouth

Nagato's Case - He was caught by surprise/Plot no jutsu

These are important facts about the Sword Of Totsuke The sword of totsuke is touchable and cuts like a normal sword as seen here and

The sword can only seal you if it pierces you, This is a FACT! Heres proof as you can see he was cutting the heads off his eight brach tech normally but once he pierced him he sealed him, Also here as stated it can seals when it pierces.

So with all these facts itachi will never be able to seal a target with that sword unless they are Huge,Immobile, or he catches them off gaurd. Essentially making it ineffective in battle against a speedster or 1 vs 1(With exceptional ninja).

Please don't flame and if you feel differently please explain :)

But isn't slashing still effective if not more on most targets? I mean I'd say the speed of SoT is still up for question. I mean sealing would be just as ineffective against speedsters as slashing would I assume xD

Im just saying because everyone keep saying sword of totsuka is instant and that itachi can solo anyone with it, I just figured i'd exploit it for what it really is. . . USELESS! :)

It could be avoided but if it happens to pierce his opponent it would seal them away. It seals whatever it pierces or whoever it pierces (whichever one it is) so it's still useful. Though you're right in the part where it could be avoided by speedsters. He could also slash but that won't seal his opponent away.

Trying to pierce minato with that sword would be like trying to hit a fly with a penny. . .LoL

Agreed and I will add that nagato was also immobile when he was hit.

thanks for explaining the obvious.

You'd be astounding, by the people who don't believe so.

+Rep. This thread clarifies many of assume aspects of the Totsuka Sword, but I wouldn't go as far as to call it useless.

Another thing, the author somewhat destroyed the fact that the Rinnegan can see chakra, by having Nagato get pierced by the sword. That was bad writing on his part.

you are correct sir,
but try not to use the word useless because thats not completely true,
but your right try hitting a human sized mobile target without plot no jutsu is nearly impossible.

Kinda yes but not really. Itachi has the sharingan which allows him to see where his opponent is going to go allowing him to swing the sword where the opponent is going. Although I could be wrong. I don't really know how fast Itachi can swing it

Exactly. Either way it won't take it's ability to seal the opponents it pierces. Doesn't mean it's absolutely useless since it's effect is still there but Minato is one of the people that could overcome it through his speed and/or FTG.
