some of these ayats are parts of bigger sentences, cut out to make a new meaning. e-g, the commands to not make friends with the Jews was given when Madina (a holy city) was attacked by the non-believers, and the Jews of Madina withdrew from their deal to protect the city from an outside attack with the Muslims . after this betrayal, that ayat was revealed. misquotes will take you nowhere. i can prove the rest of the ayats that you have quoted as fabrications as well. but that would be a waste of time because it wont change your beliefs. Alright, let me ask you (or anyone reading this) a question..

This is the problem I have with religious people.

If a Religious person does a good deed & an Atheist does the same good deed, for arguements sake we'll say the religious person/atheist walked up to a random person on the street and gave them one hundred dollars. Who's the better person? The atheist.

Why? Think about it. The religious person is indirectly doing it for their own benefit. They're consciously aware that if they do random acts of kindness it'll increase their chance of getting into heaven. So, to get into heaven, the religious person will go around doing nice deeds.
So, think about it from the other perspective. Why did the Atheist give the random person money? For no other reason than pure happiness. They aren't trying to increase their chance of something happening to them, or to be forgiven for anything they did. Just. . Happiness.

Obviously this doesn't apply for every single time someone does something nice. Religious people do things just for happiness, and atheists sometimes do kind things for their own personal advantage over a person (e.g. "Owe me a favour" or to gain their trust etc. etc.) But I personally think that if a religious person and a non-religious person do the same thing, I view the non-religious person as superior to the religious person. Doubt anyone will read this but meow.

I understand what you mean but I have to disagree just because you can never know if the religious person does it with the thought of "If I do a good deed I will go to heaven" or if he/she does it b/c they truly feel it in their heart to help others. I'm not religious, I'm agnostic and have met many nice religious people who do things to help others because they feel happy when they see a smile in someone else face. My mother is a christian and she's the most caring person I know even after going through all she went through. She loves god and has always done a lot to help others because she's just a good hearted woman not because she wants something in return. You shouldn't condemn people to hell just because they have different beliefs. Someone once told me a story of a man who had killed 99 people, he lived his life and he always wanted to ask god for forgiveness. He end up killing 1 more person which made 100, but he knew he was wrong so he wanted to apologize to god so he was heading over to ask him for forgiveness but he died along the way. Now, this is a story that someone who's Muslim told me, she said that god send him to heaven because he appreciated the fact that he wanted to ask for forgiveness.

I myself am agnostic but do I seriously hate god? no, I'm in between b/c of personal reasons and I do doubt but if he's real, I would gladly apologize for doubting him and gladly accept my punishment if there's any after death.
But until then neither side can prove much, still. I will live life being a good person and helping people because that's just the type of man I am, just because I'm not religious, doesn't mean I don't have any morals and values.

I personally find Christianity a better alternative, because the idea that my being will vanish into nothingness after my death scares me and Heaven seems better than the rest of the interpretations of what the afterlife may be. Who are you to decide that what you believe in is without a shadow of a doubt the 100% correct book? If you believe 100% that the bible is right about absolutely everything, yes, you are ignorant. If you do not, then uou are not as ignorant (depending on your interpretation). Personally, i look at the bible like i look any other piece of philosophy, take everything with a grain of salt. While i believe jesus was an amazing human being, and that he was one if the greatest philosphers if you will, in history. His followers are not like him. Many of his followers (not all, or specifically you) preach violence towards women, gays, blacks etc. something jesus would not have stood for. First, I said a holy book, which refers to any religious text. Secondly, I gave my reason as to why I believe several times throughout this thread and not once did I say was right, but that I prefer it to fading into nothingness after death. Thirdly, when did any group of people become racist because they were Christian, cause I've never heard of this? As for women, any good-hearted Christian knows that Jesus forgave prostitutes above all people, so anyone saying they're mysognistic because they're Christian is a fool. Fourthly, it's any form of intercourse, which ties into the "don't have *** before marriage" debate, which lots of people find morally correct, not just Christians. Fifthly, not a SINGLE person alive in this day and age would do something like that, regardless of their religion, and to bring that into this implies that there are modern-day Christians in the world that taking their daughters and attempting to sell them as slaves, which I will not tolerate. Besides, how do you know that that's from the New Testament anyways, because the Old Testament was written long before Christianity came into view.
