He blacked out. He doesn't remember killing the ninja in his house. Tobi could have came in, killed the ninja, and then implanted the Rinnegan into Nagato.

The DB talks about stuff as it would as a Narutoverse legend. It has been shown that the Rinnegan evolves from the sharingan. It has also been shown that people with implanted eyes cannot turn off their dojutsu.

Nagato is an Uzumaki so he has never had the sharingan and he has never turned off his Rinnegan.

I just reread that chapter and it shows Nagato with the Rinnegan screaming and then waking up not knowing what happened. It is pretty confusing but the signs still point to Nagato having implanted eyes.

The truth is we don't really know. Since Madara knew Nagato when he came out of the Edo coffin, that kind of gives credit to the idea that Madara had atleast SOMETHING to do with Nagato getting his Rinnegan. But that doesn't have to mean that he literally transplanted those eyes.

People who think they were transplanted believe that evidence of this can be found in the fact that Nagato doesn't seem to be able to turn off his Rinnegan, which we know is a trait of transplanted eyes. Also, there is good reason to believe that Nagato was actually using Madara's Rinnegan that he unlocked before death. They also feel that term "awakened" doesn't have to mean that Nagato actually awakened the eye's appearence upon seeing his parents death. It could mean that he had the eye all along, but he didn't "awaken" the power of the Rinnegan until his parents were killed. Meaning Tobi could've physically given him the eyes, but Nagato didn't get the powers until he unlocked them later.

People who think the eyes were natrually awakened point out that Nagato doesn't seem to have any EMS moves, and we know that if his eyes evolved from a sharingan, they should be able to do things like Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu, and Susanoo. We've seen Madara do Susanoo with Rinnegan still active, so we know that Nagato should be able to do the same. Some people say that the reason he can't is because he's a Uchiha, but Kakashi and Ao have both shown us that not being a Uchiha doesn't in any way affect your ability to use the eye. Thus the reason Kakashi can use MS despite not being a Uchiha, and Ao can use his Byakugan without being a Hyuga.

Both arguments are pretty solid. So I think this is something we're just going to have to wait on

True. Yeah, Kishi said (Among other things) that it'll continue for I believe a year and a half? Not sure, but it wont end as soon as we thought. Hopefully in that time, all questions will be answered. (I almost said "All answers will be questioned" :sy:

Yeah, thats true. I guess we'll just have to wait and find out, since different things have been said - so we can't really believe in one thing.

I think what happen is madara when he awaken his rinnegan and time went by he gotten old pass down the rinnegan towards nagato during his timely death he also knows nagato is an uzumaki and has a great amount of chakra this could explain why he knows him and thought that nagato revive him.tobi is a very mysterious guy knows a alot about madara &negate and would say and do anything to get his way pretty much he is a great manipulater not much is known about him and how he knows so much information on peoples past I think he travel or trained under madara or maybe a spy like kabuto.I notice he says things like he gave and owns the rennigan I think the reason he says this is because he made akatsuki and owns who ever joins that's why he doesn't like when people leave his organization like konan did.but anyway who knows if nagato was giving the rinnegan nobody could never see his eyes cause it was covered with hair.
