So while reading the dojutsu thread I was glancing through some of my medical journals regarding gender differences in pain tolerances, and I found some more interesting facts:

Men have a higher pain tolerance.
Women resist more illnesses caused by foreign bodies due to females having more white blood cells than men.

Men have a higher red cell account, allowing for marginally faster healing of wounds.

Women, due to their lack of testosterone, have better fine motor skills on average than men.

This year is the first year that women have scored a higher average iq than men for the 100 years records have been kept.

Women's sense of smell greatly surpasses that of men.

Men have higher spatial awareness than women.

Women have greater verbal and linguistic aptitude than men.

I'll keep updating this as I find more in my text books.

And yes, I know I'll be flamed, but whatever, don't blame me, blame science.

There is no reason you should be flamed, all you are doing is presenting scientific facts +rep

Well, it makes sense.. (Not trying to be sexist) but people haven't given women too many chances to increase their intelligence back a hundred years ago. But as time went on, things like more jobs for women, equal educational systems, and computers came out to all aid women in advancing their intelligence.

Actually, what I find more than odd is that people think there's something important about which gender can do what better. That doesn't matter, because not everybody will have the same stats that their gender is "supposed" to have. It only matters on a case by case basis, so I couldn't care less what statistics show, they're most likely inacurate to some degree anyway since you can't realistically test every single person...just a group.

In other words, just worry about what one person can or cannot do, not their gender. The gender war is ridiculous I think. ;)

BTW that Dojutsu Thread was soo dumb...Not because of the thread itself but because of the idiots repeating lame "ketchen" jokes...

Also

As it turns out i was wrong about women having a Higher pain threshold than men...

The subject is a very grayish area..." In animals, pain studies have had every possible outcome: males have higher tolerance, females do, and there is no gender difference at all."

Silly simpleton me...

Shinobi train, I wasn't saying all women are dumber than men or all men can't make as good of a surgeon as a woman due to dexterity, etc. These are just interesting studies about the two genders. Anyone who doesn't know to take people on a case by case basis aren't really going to be helped by being told to though, they're probably too far gone.

@Shisha, yes animals show less gender bias towards pain but humans do have a long history of gender roles that would reinforce such things. Men in the hunter gatherer days wouldn't be able to afford focusing on pain as much as a woman could in those days.
EDIT: As I can't scan from my station you could just Google testosterone's physiological effect on shakes, red cell count, etc. Same with estrogen.

Pavoneo, that would be my guess as well.

Here's another. Men are at much higher risk for spontaneous pneumothorax. That one is just from memory of clinical physiology back in college.

screw science!! I'm pretty darn smart!!

Don't worry, it was generally 5 points difference and again, the smartest person in the world can be a woman. This year women are scoring higher anyway. These are just weird physiological tid bits, and will never include everyone in both groups.

Humans are animals but meh;

"Human studies more reliably show that men have higher pain thresholds than women, and some show that men have a higher pain tolerance as well,” Graham adds."

If you go to the link you'll be better informed...
