14 Killed at The Dark Knight Screening, 50 wounded.

14 people were killed and about 50 injured as a gas masked gunman opened fire early Friday at a suburban Denver movie theatre during a premiere showing of the new Batman movie.

A 24-year-old suspect is in custody and an apartment building in north Aurora, about 10 miles (16 km) from downtown Denver, connected to the suspect was being evacuated and searched for possible explosives, someone reported citing police chief Dan Oates.

10 people died at the scene and 4 others died at hospitals in the shooting, where three theatres were showing the latest Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises".

Oates said there was no evidence of a second suspect, but the man in custody had made a statement about possible explosives in his residence. There was also no word of any motive.

Witnesses say that he released smoke. They heard a hissing sound and smoke emerged and the gunman opened fire.

No, he was wearing a police grade riot helmet. However, there have been reports of him acting crazily while detained in what the press fabricates as a Joker-esque manner. Supposedly he's been spitting on everyone and had to be locked up in solitary because the other prisoners were planning to kill him.

Okay, sorry about that. Anyway I don't believe that's the case. His motivations have not been confirmed but it seems he just had a mental break as a result of failing med school, and the theater was an ideal location to commit such a travesty.
