could he have just taken eyes from a captured enemy? or if a civilian in the clan or elder on the verge of death would be willing to give him one eye so he wouldnt be blind?

I don't think it would have made a difference, I'm pretty sure eye techniques don't stay with a person once they lose their eyes

No. It is stated that an Uchiha is only compatible with the eyes of a direct family member. Brother, dad, etc.

Just because they are from the same clan, doesn't make them directly related.

He would've been weaker. Since eye techniques are in the eyes, not the person. Not much use :/ And also, they wouldn't take the eyes of the clan they're trying to protect. Plus the elders eyes would probably be bad sight.

My mistake. I assumed to meant for Izuna to gain EMS.

It was never stated that they couldn't just use other eyes to regain sight v

But I assume that it works the same way.

Izuna was above all the Uchihas at the time except Madara so why would he downgrade and get some weak uchiha eyes?

you guys are missing the point. i mean if he just wanted the ability to see again. he could still be a strong ninja and lead a regular life if he had eyes. and the uchiha killed so many people im sure they wouldve come accross some eyes. maybe if there was a traitor within the clan he could get sharingan

Because he's unnecessary to the story.

I already corrected myself. I incorrectly thought that you meant for EMS.

As far as just taking them tp regain sight, I would guess that it's because he was too kind. From what has been shown about Izuna is that, apart from strength, and goals, he was very unlike Madara. Madara was power-hungry, and cruel. Izuna seems very kind-hearted, and selfless. Maybe he didn't take someone else's eyes just out of his own goodness?

I dunno. Just a thought.
