I think Tobi and Obito are related.
No, I am not saying that Obito is Tobi.
Tobi must have been an ANBU/Root member in order to have acces to the secret information like the date Naruto was going to be born and the seal was gonna weaken. Here it is where the theory starts:
Tobi stole Obito's eye after he died. But how did he know Obito died? Now, I tried to come with a Kishi-style theory.

Naruto and Sasuke.
They are meant to be equals. Both wanted/want revenge, both are orphans, both get a power-up at almost the same time.
Yeah, I bolded that line. Sasuke had his parents killed because of a mission Danzo gave Itachi. Sasuke didn't know about this detail. He thought Itachi massacred his clan just for power or whatever.
I stated above that Tobi has a 70% to be an ANBU. What if Danzo gave Tobi this mission? We didn't expect someone like Danzo, who loves the village, to kill a big number of villagers, like the uchiha clan.

Back to Obito. I will take every thing that refers to Tobi's and Obito's eyes from when people used(and still do) to believe Tobi is Obito.
1.Kakashi has the left sharingan, Tobi the right.
2.Similar techniques(like this jutsu that can transport stuff in an alternate world or whatever and kamui)
And more, you know them so well.

Thank you. After reading Kishis interviews about Road to Ninja, I figured out his style of surprising people by telling a thing all out of sudden, (like Tobi took Sasuke after Itachis death) but that thing has good references in the chapters from even far before.

On the other hand the argument some people make that relates Tobi and Kakashi's powers is at the most very, very, very weak.
It relays on the fact that both eye techniques come from their eyes and that they are very similar. I'd argue that they aren't that similar, or even that I'm not even sure Tobi's warp is a sharingan technique nor his intangibility. But I'm not going to do so as there is a much stronger argument to be made.

From countless generations of Uchiha do you really believe that it would be plausible that Obito's eye would be the only one to develop a S/T, parallel universe, plane travel technique? Where's the logic in that? From what we've seen so far Uchiha's eyes tend to develop very similar techniques. They vary on matters of strength and accuracy not in terms of type. Following this logic it would be plain obvious that Obito would not have been the only Uchiha to develop a pair of eyes capable of using techniques such as these.

Therefore and reminding again the eye in question was crushed by a giant bolder, the twwo eyes did not, can not, have had the same origin. End of story.

You say Tobi and Obito are related, but then you say Tobi stole Obito's right eye. Granted, these aren't mutually exclusive, but it seems that only one of these statements needs to be true to explain the similarities between Kamui and Tobi's S/T tech. Tobi could be unrelated, but still managed to get Obito's other sharingan (assuming it wasn't crushed). OTOH, Tobi could be somehow related to Obito, and thus has similar sharingan abilities. Personally, I favor the latter --- I don't think it's Obito's eye, but I do think the techs. are somehow connected.
