India.

The two World wars + Industrial revolution ( friendlier technology).

World war -> larger numbers of dead men or men fighting elsewhere -> major lack of human resources+ economic needs.

More and more women in work force-> trying for better opportunities + better education-> demands of better rights.

Most famous words in the modern women's empowerments should be= " single income homes don't do that well".

It is past midnight here and I have a headache. I wonder if that is coherrent enough for you to understand.

Mmm, that makes sense, I think. I mean, I don't see how a lack of technology stopped women from stepping into politics and etc. throughout history, but when we get said technology women start to think for themselves more (sorry if that's offensive, seems a bit to me) ._.
Oh, and that quote you made is 100% true ._.
It's crazy just how much technology effects well.. Everything. Oh, and you don't have to reply if you have a headache & tired xD. You could do it some other time if you want.

Who says it stopped them from entering politics? It was just that in most cases they got the active lead role only in absence of male heir.

Queen Durgawati, Queen Chenamma, Queen Lakshmi Bai, Queen Razia Sulatan, These are the names of the most famous of the political power who actually entered and fought in the battle field as well.

Lakshmi Bai was hailed as one of the best Generals of her times and Razia Sultan was chosen to rule Delhi by her father over her brothers.

Then during the freedom fight of India- Sarojini Naidu, Captain Lakshmi Sahgal, Aruna Asaf Ali, Begam Hazarat Mahal, Bhikaji Kama are some of the leading names.

Off course I am giving you names from my own history books. ^_^ and I am not counting the ones who ruled from behind the Thorne like Noojahan.

Basicaly technology helps in overcoming the differences of capacity in physical power to an extent

Good night.

Let me say from the beginning that my view is that women should be treated like any other person. Don't look at gender, look at the qualities of a person and their personality, their circumstances and their behavior.

I don't know why but it seems that in some areas women are unnecessarily privileged and in others they are treated inferior to men. We can be very hypocritical and I'll be the first to admit it. For example, if a man hits a woman in self defense he will often be ridiculed. However, most of the time it's fine for the woman to hit or even abuse a man, because in today's society men would be laughed at if they went to the police when they are abused by their wives or sisters or whatever. Most feminists don't open their mouths about this issue and ignore it. But they're all too eager to jump on the sexism-bandwagon when they think a woman is being treated unfairly.

So yeah, f*ck looking at gender, women fighting for equality should TRULY fight for equality. Not just for women but also for men. In an ideal world we would ignore gender most of the time. And that's what I do. I just wish more people could do it.

Aaaand your other questions have been basically answered by saaaaaadpanda so I won't say anything about that.

This is my opinion ^

Women have the rights to advance in the modern world, but they should not forget who they are. They should act like women, and not men. When women start to behave like men, thats when real problems arise.Women eventually try to overpower men, because they feel protected by the law. When a man hits a women accidently,or under self-defence,he is thrown into jail with little to no remorse.

Im not saying that women should not get rights,im just saying they should control themselves, and men should get a fair trial if a women hits him,or a man hits a women.I think women these days are getting over-confident,just because the law gives them an advantage over man.

To say the truth,I find the women who act in a womenly way more attractive, lol

To me they are human beings just like everyone else. I dont care if someone is black, white, asian, male, female, multisexual, mentally handicapped, or crippled. In my eyes everyone is equally worth my affections and my contempt, its the personality that i judge not the colour or ***.

Oh whoops, completely forgot about this thread :3. I suppose I see where you're coming from and I'll agree with it. Technology was definitely a way for women to "become equal" with men per say instead of always being behind. Nice discussion^^, it's a shame it doesn't happen too often on this forum D:

So you're saying that you treat women better than men? Well, why is that better than treating men better than women? It's just "flipping the pancake" per say and just doing the opposite, nothing's improving on the situation if you treat one type of person better than another, regardless of your gender, ethnicity, and so on and so forth.

While consciously I agree with you, I judge people based on personality. But on the other hand, subconsciously I wish I could say the same. I'll be honest, the first thing I do is judge a person based on looks.. Then of course my conscious kicks in and I completely disregard their looks and judge based on personality. Yes, I'm being honest even though it's not a good thing I do ._. It's just one of those things I can't really control. I hope someone else acts like this? >.>

women appeared to be weak by their feminine looks and skinny waist but we were just as skillfull as the men were but if we spoke out then we would have to put back in our place. The selfish men thought that alll women were good for was being pretty, cleaning, and bearing children. But now and days we just have this weird urge to simply prove ourselves worthy. :)

Yeah unfortunately that is very true, its just the way that our brains react to new people. We generalise things to relate them to something else we have experienced. There isn't really much you can do to avoid it rather than simply being aware of it.

We all came from A man (Adam) and A woman (Eve) , So both men women should be treated equally, Given same Rights , I mean that's suppose to be a Ideal Situation However in modern world a lot has change since old times but yet there are countries where that is still happening which is dominance of Males or Suppression of Female's Rights.
Same GOD created both Man & Woman , There may be different Physically But not mentally , They eat what Man eats, They certainly can do what Man can So why not treat them equally ???

i personally don't believe that men and women should given same Rights, because men and women are different.By saying that i don't mean that men is better then women or the opposite, i mean both of us strong and weak points and we both complete each other.
women are soft (that's a good and bad thing in the same time) that's why i believe we should treat her with more care and kindness then men :)

I got your point but Giving Same rights is different than Treating in the same way.

how is it different ?

Well, there's being equal on a political level, like voting and whatnot. Then what he's talking about is being equal on a social level, which some people don't see eye to eye on it. That's where I'm guessing he's coming from. You can make men and women as equal as you want, give them all the rights men have. But if men don't recognize this, then they'll still be considered "unequal" because some men see the physical weakness and take advantage of it by putting themselves superior.

I treat women differently based on what I have to gain from it. I usually treat most of them like I don't give 2 shits about them, which I probably don't. If theres a chance I might get a piece of ass, then I might be nice for a little while, or if I have something else to gain, but other than that, **** bitches get money.

Yup, That's what i am trying to say.
Treating is your behaviour, perception and your attitude towards someone while Rights Includes Right to Live,Right to Education,Vote etc.

I believe in justice and equality, so I believe women and men are both equal. Women should be treated with respect, I don't get what's so hard about letting a girl be good at something or letting them achieve their goals. It's 2012, society has changed, I hope that by the time I'm dying, that all this BS about sexism dies off. It's sad watching guys treat girls like dirt and like all there good for is cleaning the house and taking care of kids.

But what's the point in asking, the world wont change. We can only hope for the best and that someday it does.

Well, I disagree with the point that Religion is responsible for the mistreatment with women's.I am Muslim and Our religion Islam, tells that Men and Women are different but equal socially, morally and they shouldn't be oppressed or not given their rights properly.
Don't know about christanity but i think Gender Equality is the Universal Principle of All religions.
But as there are Black sheeps everywhere, So some have manupilated religion as a basis to justify their mistreatment.
Women have participated in the world , For E.g:- Mother teresa etc.
