I believe it is a cheap way to make the good guys win against a bad guy when they are getting stomped.

I don't even get that jutsu. If you are hurt by an attack, how do you instantly teleport away and leave behind a log. If Sasuke used amaterasu, can someone use substitution and the log will burn and not them.
