[Discussion] Why do people think that being a virgin is a bad thing?

Right, and I guess that's what I'm trying to get at the bottom of. Is it some sick delusion that guys aren't "cool" if they're virgins? They should be considered cooler if they stand above the crowd. So that's where I think jealousy plays a major role...

Also, this isn't just on the internet, I see this in everyday life as well. :sy:

Well, not necessarily. A lot (trust me, a lot) of people who I observe in day to day life aren't virgins because they choose to stand above the crowd, but it's because they're not "slick" or "cool" enough to have *** with someone. I'll admit it, I'm a virgin xD. But I'm not choosing to be a virgin to stand above the majority, but just because I don't really care for ***. If it happens it happens and vice versa.

I guess what I'm saying is that even a total nerd wearing a Darth Vader costume can walk in a bar and walk out with a girl. Sure, there might be some major diseases to worry about, but that will do it. Anyone can lose it...that's not the point. The thing is is that people make a decision, whether they realize or not, to either keep it or lose it. If someone is really desperate, then prostitution is legal in many places, and in the US it's legal in Nevada (just not Vegas).

So it stands to reason that one would have to make the choice one way or the other. Someone telling themselves they can't for some reason is still a choice. Someone being to shy to do so is still a choice. It might not seem like a choice in the person's mind, but that's what it is.

The "i smell a virgin" quote is generally said after someone says something about all the girls they are banging. Or if they act like them losing there virginity a hue deal and need to tell anyone. I could care less if anyone is/isnt a virgin

I also agree with you. Being 17 there is a lot of social pressure to have ***, but frankly its in no way worth it unless you want it. *** although fun, isn't really everything it is cracked up to be, a lot like drinking and drugs really.

People get the impression that having *** will make them a mature member of society, but in reality it doesn't change anything. These days very few teenagers my age havent seen most of that already, or dont know what *** entails. The experience doesn't really get you any further than being able to say you are no longer a virgin.

*** is overrated. It's great, but overrated. Hold onto your virginity while you can ;P once it's gone, you'll never have that innocence back.

Doesn't matter if you are or not people will hate being virgin or viceversa and if somebody says that it smells like virgin it probably is because the person sounds desperate, but making jokes is inmatture and IMO happens because being different seems like an excuse to laugh at others. Just pay no attention to it !

I see this all the time. People constantly saying "I smell a virgin", or something stupid like that. Is it because they're jealous that someone still has it? Or is it some sad attempt to try and make someone feel bad?

It's just stupid. I mean really? It's like the "kitchen" jokes (which I hate with an unquenchable hatred); if someone still has their virginity (and old enough to lose it), they should be applauded instead...especially in this world.

OT: It's always been my experience that people who are virgins usually harken the fact that they are from moral high grounds so it's not just non virgins who judge virgins can be guilty of judging as well....idk
