Saw in interesting thread title that made me think a bit, although when I got to the thread I was disappointed.

What I want to ask is what is your view on treating women? Keyword: Your

Your opinion could be surrounded by history, or maybe in today's society. Why are some women treated the way they are? Do you agree with said method? How come they were looked down on in history? Maybe there's something we don't know? >.>

I'd like to hear what you guys have to say about this matter.

(1) It takes a long time to bypass ingrained social doctrines.
(2) No, everyone needs to be treated as individuals judged only on their actions.
(3) Biologically speaking, women tend to be physically weaker and men took advantage of that, eventually structuring society in their favor.

Although this is all based on a modern, Western perspective. There have been, and are, numerous societies where females are the dominant ***.

I try to treat them well. Women are a lot more sensitive then guys so you have to be carefull with what you say. Once you get close to them you don't really have to do that anymore. I guess you should treat all people like that, im just more concious to treat girls better/be nicer

Like, erghh. I may have been misleading with the question.. How come throughout history women have been treated as lower than men? How come just now women are getting rights (in some countries)? Like, why did we treat women in said manner. And to answer your question directly, how would you treat any women? Hopefully you treat women equally. ._. I think the balance of men and women has shifted. If used to be, men worked, women stayed and took care of the kids, how i think it should be in the first place. Now a days the women is runnin things and has no respect for the man. I think peoples views on sexism has ruined the balance that we once had, now things are crazy. Call me crazy, but id rather be the one working and my wife stay home and take care of the house and kids, I can bring home the bacon.

And to answer your question as to why women are treated the way they are, I think people have forgotten how important women really are. Women, believe it or not, are the heart and soul of a nation. You cannot build a nation without the women, her role is too important. I can't go into details about this subject because I can't put it into words right now, but I believe that we as a people need to understand the importance of a women, to really understand how to treat a women.

@Bold: Let me ask you this, how come it took so long until only now that we're changing our views on women and treating them as individuals? I mean, depending on your belief, humans have been around for a long time.. So why is it that only now women are being treated equally? Why did it take so long to have such thinking come about? It's not like in previous history there were less individuals (although that would be the only explanation that I could come up with) that speak out against what the majority of people say and try to convince people to treat women equally.

I view women the same way i view men: fellow human beings. I believe that women should have the same rights as men and arent just *** objects.

While I dont think men should hit women or beat them, if a woman hits a man, he should have the right to hit her back. However, i dont believe in a man going overboard with it.

I also think if a woman dresses and acts like a slut, thats what she deserves to be treated as. Dont wear clothes that have your tits and ass hanging out, then get angry when a man stares.

Although I disagree with your views, I still respect your opinion. I still see working women respect men, and I understand the fact that you say things are crazy as of now. But in the past, there have been crazy times and women & men still functioned as you stated. So the "craziness factor" doesn't really depend on sexism views, it's just one of the many factors included.

Yeah, you can't really avoid hypocritical actions these days. I suppose (sorry if this offends anyone) when someone is always being put down their entire life, then get a taste of the power putting them down, they turn around and do the same thing; put people down. You don't really know what something's like until you're actually in the situation given.

Let me say from the beginning that my view is that women should be treated like any other person. Don't look at gender, look at the qualities of a person and their personality, their circumstances and their behavior.

I don't know why but it seems that in some areas women are unnecessarily privileged and in others they are treated inferior to men. We can be very hypocritical and I'll be the first to admit it. For example, if a man hits a woman in self defense he will often be ridiculed. However, most of the time it's fine for the woman to hit or even abuse a man, because in today's society men would be laughed at if they went to the police when they are abused by their wives or sisters or whatever. Most feminists don't open their mouths about this issue and ignore it. But they're all too eager to jump on the sexism-bandwagon when they think a woman is being treated unfairly.

So yeah, f*ck looking at gender, women fighting for equality should TRULY fight for equality. Not just for women but also for men. In an ideal world we would ignore gender most of the time. And that's what I do. I just wish more people could do it.

That's a great question. In my opinion, science and technology are perhaps the greatest factors in our strides toward gender equality. With modern tools women can do everything men can do, and vice versa (short of birthing a child). Additionally, greater public education systems (that allow women) have provided more opportunities for advancement.
