Deidara beat Gaara because of his speed and agility. There's no way itachi could dodge as much sand as he did. I'll admit Itachi's one of the greatest but I have to say he's at a loss here.

^This makes no sense. Itachi's speed pwns on Deidara's. Ocean of sand or not, I think Itachi would take this one. mid-hi difficulty. The only way I see him losing is if Gaara went all out from the start in which it would be a battle of endurance.

Seeing how Itachi beat Deidara so easily and that Gaara couldn't beat Deidara in the desert (I know he had to protect people) I highly doubt that Gaara has much of a chance. What I do think is that Gaara in the desert could possibly beat Itachi when he's sick cuz he overused the mangenkyou. Tsukyomi and Amateratsu won't work cuz of the sand shield so its up to the susano and Totsuka blade to make the difference.

Gaara beats Itachi. This guy stood up to 25 walking Susanoos, after already defeating two Kages on one day. Are you freaking kidding me?

How does it make no sense? Deidara was flying around on a bird the entire fight. Itachi doesn't have that to work with therefore he's stuck dodging on foot and I highly doubt itachi could accomplish what a flying opponent could barely do. Also, say Itachi jumps to dodge sand. Ok in deidaras case he could weave around on his bird. Now, itachi doesn't have the ability to fly so once he jumps his mobility is severely limited from point A to point B. He simply wouldn't be able to dodge the multiple attacks Gaara would be sending at him. Btw there's no way in hell itachi can outrun an ocean of sand. That's a feat that only the fastest of ninja could pull off. (Lee, Guy, KM/BM Naruto)

I've seen alot of people say Gaara could beat Itachi but i'm not really sure myself. In a normal battlefield, I would say Itachi just about wins it. Even then Gaara has a big chance to win. In the desert I would say Gaara wins with low - mid diff, because he can fly etc and he has almost limitless sand. I don't think Itachi could keep up stamina wise. No eye contact if Gaara is high in the sky etc.

What do you guys think?

This aint an Itachi hate thread btw, just want to know what people are thinking :drive:

I don't like the thing about Itachi not being able to put Gaara in genjutsu b/c of Gaara being in the sky b/c when Itachi and Naruto fought, he put Naruto in genjutsu using his finger. And he could gaurd himself with the susanoo or burn it with Amaterasu.

i dont think being in a desert has much to do with it he still has to infuse the sand with chakra, sure he could hide it amongst the sand around. Also itachi got naruto with his clone whos to say he not gonna roll out a clone and **** him up like that. Your talking about a genius here whos prob had double the fights and fought no doubt stronger foe

As you can see, infusing the sand with his chakra takes little to no time and effort and touché with the clone idea, but what if he's using sensor sand as well? Gaaras mastery of sand plus the few seconds of forewarning it gives would let him defend against the possibility of a clone sneak attack.

of course he could NOT beat Itachi. Itachi is a different breed of Shinobi; god-like. even through his sickness, he'd obliterate Gaara. nothing against the Kazakage but EVERYTHING to the Uchiha.

The last part of your post is not needed. it's implying that there were previous threads where people may have called you a hater which I've actually seen. Anyways to answer the simple question it's yes, gaara can beat itachi in this fictional world with the right circumstances. itachi fans don't want to admit the the fact that it's possible. in all honesty though, itachi wins 8/10 times. 10/10 is complete fanboyism.

I think that garra could take him on. Visual Genjitsu has no effect since he can be in that dome of sand and use a ninjitsu eye/ sensing sand. Tie-jitsu has little/ no effect on Garra because he can fly and block a majority of attacks with his sand/ auto defense. He has been shown that Ameraterasu/Sunnosso have no effect because he can block the line of sight/ pull out the host.
The only real advantages Itachi has is his extreme intellect/ battle premise, His crow (if he still has it in this battle), Sword and Sheild (both have limited range and sand can easily get around), water ninjitsu, Shuriken mastery, and Izanami in (which you sacrifice an eye)

Thats because Naruto was looking at Itachi's figure, this is how he got trapped. If Garra could pull Madara out of his sunnosso then he can pull Itachi out and I don't think he can block with Amaterasu.... I know his brother can block. But that dosn't help against blocking inanimate objects like sand.

This is true good call, and also true with that eye we have seen he could be using that to keep a 360 degree view, gaara is a strong foe no doubt but what we have seen he doesn't really use sneak attacks and because of his crow a possibility of that casting a genjustu is also there and not to mention it watching his back.

As much as I love Gaara, no.
If Gaara can't beat deidara...he can't beat Itachi.

He spent most of his chakra chasing diedara and stoping a bomb from destroying a whole village

And guys, to be honest, I don't know why people are bringing up the desert. Gaara got owned by Deidera... IN THE DESERT. That has nothing to do with it.

But he was trying to protect the village at the same time from deideras c4
