He blatantly lies about the 9 tails attack. This alone is all the evidence needed to make a blanket statement of this:

Nothing Tobi says to anyone, until otherwise proven or stated by someone else, can be trusted or used as evidence in an argument to try to prove a point.

The only reason I'm making this thread is because I keep seeing people say "Tobi said this ___" "Tobi said that ____" to prove their arguments. I just want people to realize that his word means about as much as bringing a butter knife to Hiroshima or Nagasaki as defense during WW2.

While he may tell the truth sometimes, he has been shown to lie pretty frequently. Therefore, anything he says that you consider truth must be taken with a grain of salt. The best lies are the ones that have an element of truth about them.

You need to think about context as well, the pages you posted, everything he says can be considered lies because it's all an attempt at manipulating Sasuke in his favour.

However, when he tells Konan he gave Nagato the Rinnegan just before he is going to kill her, I see no reason for him to lie, because he gains nothing from it.

Kishimoto often uses him as a device to tell explain history and jutsus. One should only assume he is lying if it would be beneficial for him to lie in the situation.

just take what he says with a grain of salt, because some of the things hes discussed like the so6p/2 sons/juubi cant really be verified by other sources because of the nature of the information, but you cant just assume that because he lies everything he stated is false, thats just as illogical as assuming everything he's said is valid truth

Of course, but Tobi does it on a regular basis, hence the suspicion towards him. And I sort of agree, shouldn't we take everything he says with a grain of salt until we can have it confirmed by someone who is not a complete megalomaniac?

He's done it 2-3 times.
Itachi has done it the entire series and people still believe what he says.
I believe that Tobi tells half-lies so until we know exactly which part he didnt expand on or changed a bit, you can't really judge.
