Could Gaara beat Itachi?

And guys, to be honest, I don't know why people are bringing up the desert. Gaara got owned by Deidera... IN THE DESERT. That has nothing to do with it.

That was because he could fly but if they were on the ground,he would have had a much harder time and would have been surrounded by sand but he avoided all that by flying.

Anyways, Gaara just doesn't stand up to Itachi. Even if he was in the desert what will that help him with? More sand? More destructive power? Susano'o w/ Yata Mirror can take this, and Gaara does know about the Sharingan, but that doesn't mean he won't look into it. Orochimaru, a genius in his own right fell right into it, because he underestimated Itachi. The same goes for him, one look into those blessed eyes, and that's it. Game over. Also, I don't really see a counter for Tsukuyomi, Genjutsu, or Totsuka Blade. Someone state some weaknesses and then I'll gladly respond ^^

One main reason that Gaara lost that fight is because he had to focus so much on protecting the village. So he wasn't fighting at 100%.

To be honest, I think Itachi would win.
A) Amaterasu would be hard to defend against with sand.
B) Tsukuyomi would be extremely effective and hard to counter for Gaara.
C) Susanoo would be hard to defeat on his own.

Plus Water jutsu are going to be extemely effective against sand.

Well i doubt Garra would be able to beat Sasuke alone and Itachi>Sasuke so i say Itachi but if in a desert,Garra would win.
