As the title implies, it is my personal theory that Itachi had a third spirit weapon that has not he been seen in combat but has been seen before (but I'll get to that soon enough).

According to Japanese Mythology the Imperial Regalia of Japan (三種の神器 Sanshu no Jingi / Mikusa no Kandakara?), also known as the Three Sacred Treasures of Japan, consist of the sword Kusanagi (草薙劍), the mirror Yata no Kagami (八咫鏡), AND the jewel Yasakani no Magatama (八尺瓊曲玉). The regalia represent the three primary virtues: valor (the sword), wisdom (the mirror), and benevolence (the jewel). I hate use Wikipedia as a source but check it .

Now anyone with Susano'o can use the technique Yasaka Matagama. ( ) I use this example because that is what he jewel looks like it shape and just like Yasaka Matagama can be used the third spirit item or jewel is a tomoe-like shape on a string having six connected altogether.

But then again where have we seen such an item? We have all seen the sage of six paths outline and he carried the a red set of Matagama on his chest as a necklace. (and even here they refer in the trivia as the necklace as the Yasakami Matagama) And recently Naruto only in Bijuu Mode (which is simular in spirituality to Susano'o in my opinion) has been seen with it.

But how would Naruto wind up with the Third Legendary Spirit Weapon? As we all know Itachi had the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror Shield. It is my theory that he had all three Legendary Spirit Weapons. Itachi when he had his talk with Naruto in the forest gave the Matagama to Naruto (along with the crow/Shisui's eye) It would make sense because we never had the opportunity to see Itachi's Susano'o before this time so we never got to see if he would have the Matagama on his chest.

[Speculation]Now, what could this item do? It represents Benevolence and has been kept out of the picture probably because its the most powerful of the three legendary items. I am assuming that this will be used to defeat one of the Bigger Enemies in the series like Oro, Tobi/Juubi, or Madara. One of Kishimoto's favorite characters is Itachi and even in death he has proved to us (multiple times I might add) that he still effects the storyline. So I wouldn't count him out yet.

I understand that this may sound like a mere filler Naruto Movie but give the concept a chance and tell me what you think about it.
Constructive criticism welcomed but trolling is not.
Before the search bar jokes begin, I haven't honestly see anything on the subject other than it is a legendary item.
So tell me what you think!

Yes but they have different names and it has been shown time and time again that Kishimoto uses Japanese culture, and mythology in his works. So I think its a bit more than just that.

Sounds very plausible, or perhaps the So6p gave it to kurama

I haven't even thought about that.
I actually have heard that the SO6P was dying he sealed some of his chakra in the Nine Tails and it snuck its way into naruto's body from Kurama. But hey thats just a rumor.
If that was the case the chakra could have held the weapon.
Anything is possible withe the S06P

I believe the third one is accessible in the blood of the descendants of the sage, when they reach a level of unity with a bijuu.

Nice theory xd.

So your theory is basically make Itachi more OP? I do not think Itachi had or has that necklace but it is possible since he does have the other treasures.
