Did this for a request and it's the first time I used cliping masks and the colors looked horrible in the end, so I decided to give it a sephia effect. Anyone got a tip on how to do it better next time, because this was also the first time working with a gradient map.

Left the end result and right is the colored version

Could you perhaps upload the image of the colored version, so we can give you CnC how you could have avoided the colors being so messy/

The color version doesn't look very good, and the sepia version is too monotoned but it looks better than the color version. I would try using a few more graideint maps that will suit the color scheme you are going for.

Yeah, but I am a newbie with gradient maps. I was already glad enough that I got a not bad looking color scheme to be honest. But with more do you mean using multiple ones in one sig or trying out multiple? And yes I knew the colored version is well crap so that's why I didnt wanted to upload it in the first place.

Yeah most sigs will have around 4ish sometimes more sometimes less, but it all depends on the look you are going for the most used gradient maps are black to white and more often than not this one is set to luminosity(opacity where you feel its best.) But it can be set to anything and play around with the opacity, the other most commanly used GM is the standard blueish/purpleish and orange and this is quiet often set to soft light with a lowered opacity. But again it depends on the look you are going for as to which GM's you use and what blend modes you set them too, something that might help you grasp the use of GM's is a psd pack try downloading a pack and see what they do with GM's.
