My thoughts on why Kishi made Haku a girl

Well Haku used the Anbu mask for the deceiving IMO, like how he pretended to be an Anbu and take Zabuza's body.
I don't think gender matters if you're trying to catch them off guard or deceive an opponent, maybe if he wasn't doing shinobi stuff then he can confuse people with his gender like he kinda did with Naruto (but he told him he was a guy so..) but eh

I also don't find her attractive

Age difference is not a factor in a lot of anime/manga/shows in general
