Tobi really is the So6P (with Explanation)

im pretty sure that if hes so6p he can easily change is chakra identity, or anything else that he wanted.
he probably sealed away his kyuubi and other beast powers away to stop himself if he turned evil but also left enough power so that in the future if he didnt turn evil and problems occured then he would still be able to protect people.
he just changed his mind and decided to do the phase of the moon plan but didnt think the shinobi of the future would actually be this powerful.

Would be the same for all the Mardara theories. Could also easily be explained by something like: "it was a long time ago", "the so6p changed", ...
And about the whole: "No, the So6P is a good guy, he never would do that."
Yes, he wanted peace and all that stuff. But he invented the ninjutsu ... he actually gave the world new weapons ... I guess, like 10023213 said, he would sacrifice people for the greater good. Furthermore, since he gave the humanity the ninjutsu, you can say that he is prepared to bring peace to the world by force.
(Show me the Chapter where it's said, that the So6P will assure that peace with flowers and stuff)
Tobi doesn't know the names of the 9 bijuu.Since the lack in presentation of the Thread of 10023213 I had to open a new one. I'm sorry if you are insulted by this as spam, but I can't help it.
At first I want to mention the fact, that many favorise dead people (like Obito, Mardara or Izuna) to be tobi, and only a few can speculatively explain how that could have worked out.
And that's the problem with this theory too, we saw the So6P on his deathbed. BUT we are talking about the Sage of the Six Paths. It is possible, that he just gave birth to and ran away from the responsibility. (Yeah, the second part is a joke.) The point is, how he did it is fishing in the dark and rather pointless. He was high likely capable of doing it, that's all that matters.
Why the So6P did what he did:
The Sage wanted to bring Peace to the whole world. He invented ninjutsu to make the world to a better place. If you where in his position, wouldn't you want to know if your plan turns out well? Wouldn't you want to know if the world is this place you have dreamed of? Of course not ... ^^
So he stayed and that also explains why tobi was never mentioned in the beginning of this shinobi world. He kept still until ...
Why "Tobi" did what he did:
... until he realizes that this shinobi world will never turn out as a peacefull world. So the Moon's Eye Plan took his place. If you think about it, the Moon's Eye Plan is the So6P vision!
Why is the So6P Tobi?
For one reason. To beat Edo Madara. Many came to the conclusion that Edo Madara must be close to the So6P level. So who should beat Edo Madara? Naruto? Sasuke? Don't be ridiculous
Tobi also possesses, like the So6P, the Sharingan in one eye and the Rinnengan in the other. (Thanks to 10023213 for that!)

tough question. maybe it's related to how he did it. that may sound crazy, but i can imagine something like this spirit split, the 4th hokage did with kurama. in addition, in classic phantasy names are changeable and it's been a long time since the so6p and the bijuu didn't see each other

I would say, I guess not, but it would have to be.
Edo Mardara is to strong. How can you can Kishi destroy him by not screwing up the balance? The So6P is the only reasonable match for Mardara.

well this is when naruto and sasuke have to find out about their own powers like sasuke who is about to find his turth and gain his power, sasuke may even help naruto if he finds his real story of the past
Sorry, but Naruto and Sasuke beating Edo Mardara together would be the lamest thing ever. That would only be bathetic. ^^
What would that mean for the next arc(s)?! Sasuke and Naruto would be the strongest shinobis in the world, without any competition. Boooring
