If he would of had some Edo's with him, he would have made quick work of Itachi.

I think people are just being fanboys when they say that Itachi was just tanking hits because he was an Edo. If he took a fatal blow then he would have to reform, thus allowing Kabuto the time to override his seal. It was way to risky to die.

Anyway if Itachi had have been solo then Kabuto would have killed him a fair few times.
- Sage art white rage: would have killed a non-edo itachi
- Killed him with the sword: pretty self explanatory
- Kimimaro/Kidomaru Jutsu combo: can't counter both without sasuke
-Tayaya genjutsu: No Sasuke to get him out
- Inorganic transmutation: Itachi got owned
- Shed skin to chop: Itachi got owned

So thats at least 6 times Itachi should have died in that fight. Itachi was fighting to stay alive otherwise Kabuto would override his seal.

Kabuto was fighting to capture Sasuke and to regain control of Itachi. For all we know he could have sealed Itachi at any of those moments in which he subdued him.

Tayuya's genjutsu ALONE is a dealbreaker for Itachi. So is that white dragon flash thing he threw in the beginning, and his control of unliving things. Itachi was killed when he was speared by those stalagmites and stalagtites, and he had absolutely no way of dodging them. In that case, he wasn't hit because he didn't care because he was an edo, he was hit, and was just lucky to have been an edo.
