2. Kakashi stated during the ending of his fight with Pein that he failed to protect her. That possibly means she's dead or missing in action.

Ok Im not gonna be a **** or anything buuuuuut,,, Rin is Still Alive As far as I know.
She fled to the Whirlpool Village in an effort to get rid of the memory of obitos loss. Kakashi said he failed to protect her because he doesnt know her were abouts cause she left without notice. Rumors are is she got killed in the Whirlpool Village but i think she is still alive and waiting to retuen the the Leaf Village again.
