This fight depends on a lot of things and can go either way.
Anyway Gaara's sand automatically blocks incoming attacks, but gaara's fighting style will be his downfall. The sand will block the ftg kunai's that much is clear. What is also clear is gaara's fighting style which will be his let down. Those kunai's even after its been blocked will land right before him and gaara usually stands still for majority of his fight, therefore minato can teleport to them and deal a vital blow just like this;

Obviously this is part 1 and gaara has improved. Also this was indoors and because gaara's is one of the best if not the best long range fighter, indoors puts him at a disadvantage than outdoors, but i still believe that speedy opponents is his problems and i dont believe i need to tell you about minato's speed.

Second is summonings. Gamabunta can produce a mass of oil this can make life difficult for gaara's sand;

Gamabunta can also jump very here, if gaara decides to fly. Gaara advantage over gamabunta is that he can crush its legs with the sand when it lands back on the ground, but i still believe minato takes this

With that logic Minato beats everyone.

Gaaras sand is pretty fast.
Gaaras sand can easily be used to attack.
Gaaras auto defense hasn't been beat since the Chuunin exams, and Kimmimaro.

So there is no way you can see it's defense isn't good against speed.

His sand was fast enough to stop a v2 Raiton armor A from killing Sasuke. That's pretty damn fast.

And lee could still not hit gaara. Gaara's sand has become quicker and hes able to use it better.. Minato is not gonna be able to touch gaara :sy:]

Minato's speed is instant because of the FTG. He could just appear behind gaara and cut his throat with a kunai U_U and what blaze release said. Thread/

FTG needs a seal.

Kunai won't get to Gaara, and seals on the ground would be somethered or drowned in the sand.

You do realize that Minato can easily place seals all over Gaara's sand without him noticing right?

Then there's also the fact that Minato could summon Gamabunta and have him use oil to completely dismantle Gaara's sand. It's already been shown that oil is Gaara's sands weakness and Bunta can produce plenty of that.

Minato could also summon Ma and Pa(signing a contract with the toads allows the user to summon any frog) and get them to use frog song, which would also put an end to Gaara. I could keep going, but you should get it by now.

Minato would defeat Gaara with mid difficulty IMO.

I'm not gonna go into an elaborate lecture thread. But I think Minato would lose against Gaara. Gaaras sand would prevent any kunai from getting to him.

Another thing is Gaara can fly. Minato has the advantage in summons, but I'm sure if he helped stop a meteor he could stop a summon. Or just sink it.

I think Gaara is above Minato in the "naruto ranks" list​

Gaara hasn't properly fought A tbh. A was not at full speed there, considering that he lost one arm and was already fighting Sasuke. I wonder what would happen if Gaara actually fought A at full strength 1v1.

Gaara's sand is pretty fast, but it's not the fastest thing ever. I reckon Minato and A can get past it considering that Tobi was impressed with Minato's base speed.

Another point: He isn't going to let Minato Waltz towards him. Gaara isn't slow by any means, Minato isn't going to get to him easily. As soon as Gaara realizes Minato is fast, he can fly.
