This is a thread to explain why only Uchiha elite can escape Tsukuyomi and why only Uchiha are so difficult to capture in a genjutsu.
I will talk about the sharingan.
The sharingan eye allows the user to see chakra, to follow many different movements at once. There is a limit to how many can be followed this often differs from one Uchiha to another, based mainly on prowess with the sharingan.
This skill stretches beyond the ability to predict accurately when an enemy is going to strike.
This skill of being able to follow many rapid hand sign movements as well as detecting chakra nature changes, is seen in all it's glory when we see Kakashi copying hand signs as they are made to meet one ninjutsu with an identical other.
Kakashi with the eye's of the sharingan can see the chakra being molded and it's nature, but there is a limit to what he and any other uchiha can process.
Unfortunately Kakashi's either Kakashi's peak is less than one with the blood of the Uchiha or he needs to work harder to reach it.
Let's take a look at Itachi now, as his genjutsu prowess was shown quite early in the manga.
He uses Mirror Heaven and Earth on Kurenai a Genjutsu master that is well known.
This is a jutsu requires that you analyse the genjutsu cast on you and then send it back at your opponent, Kurenai does not use weak genjutsu, genjutsu is her speciality.
Itachi's sharingan allowed for the rapid decryption of this genjutsu.
Sensors even when they know that they are in a genjutsu can not break out if they do not know how to, the sharingan allows you to completely analyse the genjutsu rapidly so that you know everything about it almost the moment it is cast.
Tsukuyomi is a highly advanced version Sharingan Genjutsu that allows the user, when they have mastered it, to completely control time, but at the cost of huge amounts of chakra.
Sharingan Genjutsu is one of the shortest genjutsu in NU, meaning that breaking it is impossible for almost everyone, even those with the eyes of the sharingan.
Kakashi could not break the Tsukuyomi because there was not enough time for his real would mind to analyse it, even though in the genjutsu world he was tortured for three days, in the real would he was only under for a few seconds.
Kakashi has the eyes of the sharingan, but it is not enough, his mind has to be able to process all he can see enabling him to analyse the Genjutsu and unimaginable speeds.
If you can't analyse the entire genjutsu within a a fraction of a second of it being cast you can't break out of it.
Sharingan Genjutsu only lasts a few seconds, that is not enough time to analyse it then act upon the weaknesses of the genjutsu, the tsukuyomi takes advantage of this fact, by controlling the perceived time the genjutsu lasts for and thus the level of effect that the jutsu has.
